Presented by MK Chorale
Join MK Chorale for a fun concert suitable for all ages: a concert full of stories and poems about animals.
Joseph Horowitz’s delightful Captain Noah and His Floating Zoo, written in 1970 to words by Michael Flanders, is a light-hearted adaptation of the Biblical tale of Noah which begins with God instructing Noah to build an ark (much to the amusement of his neighbours!) and ends with the wonderful scene of the rainbow overhead.
Eric Whitacre’s Animal Crackers playfully sets six short, humorous poems by Ogden Nash to music and features a diverse range of animals; panther, cow, firefly, canary, eel and kangaroo.
The Cow is of the bovine ilk, One end is moo, The other milk.
John Rutter’s tuneful and wonderful The Wind in the Willows is a witty and enjoyable musical entertainment, based on the book by Kenneth Grahame. The narrator takes us on a journey with Rat, Mole, Badger and Toad that leads ultimately to the best place possible – home.
There will be a 40 minute interval in the concert – time to stretch your legs and have a picnic or snack.
To add to the experience, we are thrilled that MK Play Association will be joining us before the concert, from 1.30pm to 2.30pm, with animal-related craft activities. There will be lots of materials, help, and inspiration available for you to make something wonderful to take into the concert.
We are very grateful to Kawai for their kind sponsorship of this concert.
